Bay Radio (89.7 FM) is a national radio station based in Malta. Owned by the Eden Leisure group, the station was founded in 1991 and broadcasts from St. Julian’s on the 89.7 FM frequency. In addition to its nationwide coverage, its programming can be followed online and via DAB+ digital radio.
With a focus on pop music, Bay Radio mainly plays current hits, establishing itself as one of the leading music stations on the Maltese radio scene.
During the latest renovation of its facilities, Bay Radio’s technical management opted for the AEQ FORUM SPLIT digital console to equip its main broadcast studio. The choice was based on criteria of operability, reliability, and audio quality, key aspects in live broadcast environments.
The console, designed for on-air broadcast control, integrates the usual functions found in this type of studio, such as signal management, external equipment automation, monitor control, and intercom, among other features aimed at ensuring a smooth and secure workflow.
The project was coordinated by MST, AEQ’s local partner in Malta, which was responsible for integrating and implementing the system.
With its modular design and compact format, AEQ FORUM SPLIT can be adapted to different working environments, from self-monitoring studios and broadcasting rooms to television production control rooms and sound production spaces. Its architecture also facilitates integration into larger installations.
The FORUM IP SPLIT version incorporates the FR CORE modular engine, housed in three rack units, and can be configured with up to six quad fader modules alongside a control and monitoring unit. This technical flexibility allows the console to be adjusted to both basic operations and more advanced configurations, depending on the needs of each studio.
AEQ FORUM SPLIT offers multiple professional connectivity options, including multi-channel input and output cards compatible with the AES67 protocol using DANTE technology. This allows signals to be exchanged with other consoles, routers, and equipment from more than 300 different manufacturers.
The console can also be configured with a MADI connection and up to two internal digital telephone hybrids, expanding its integration possibilities in modern and complex radio studios.
With this upgrade, Bay Radio strengthens its technical infrastructure and production capacity, consolidating its position as one of Malta’s leading broadcasters. The integration of AEQ FORUM SPLIT ensures a more efficient and flexible workflow, ready to handle both daily programming and future technological expansions.
