TV9 Samoa upgrades its communication with AEQ XPEAK intercom system

TV9, together with Radio 2AP, forms the core of public broadcasting in Samoa. Founded in 1947, the state corporation provides coverage to the entire archipelago from its headquarters in Apia, the capital located on the island of Upolu. With fully digitized broadcasts, TV9 guarantees a high quality signal and diverse programming ranging from local, national and international news programs to cultural content that promotes music, theater and other artistic expressions of the country.
As part of its recent technical modernization process, TV9 has incorporated AEQ XPEAK intercom system in its facilities. This solution has been implemented in several key areas, such as technical controls, newsroom and even the engine room, using rackable panels, desktop devices and beltpacks. The complete installation and configuration of the system has been carried out by MiseOPoint, AEQ’s local partner in the region, which has carried out the project in its entirety.
The deployment of the new intercom system also includes AEQ XPEAK-IF units, designed to function as interfaces with the rest of TV9’s systems operating over Dante audio over IP (AoIP) technology. This integration allows centralizing the interconnection of signals -both incoming and outgoing- to and from the IFBs, program or N-1 signals, as well as loudspeakers, links and monitoring systems, thus optimizing the broadcaster’s audio infrastructure.
In Radio 2AP’s main production studio, a multifunctional design has been developed that allows the realization of both traditional radio programs and television productions. This versatility has been possible thanks to the implementation of a VisualRadio system, integrated with the AEQ CAPITOL mixing console and connected to the XPEAK system through IF units installed in the same building. The result is an agile production environment adaptable to different broadcast formats.
The AEQ XPEAK system is based on an innovative virtual networking technology that allows the automatic interconnection of its devices, without the need for complex configurations. Thanks to an integrated wizard, the panels – both physical and software versions – communicate with each other as if they were sharing the same production center, regardless of whether they are operating on a local network (LAN) or from remote locations with Internet access. No static IP addresses, dynamic DNS or port forwarding are required, as each panel automatically adapts to the conditions of the network in which it is located. This flexibility ensures immediate uptime even in highly restrictive network environments.
A typical AEQ XPEAK-based system may consist of several devices operating within a single site, supplemented by additional units located in remote or residential environments. In order for the local devices to communicate with the remote panels, an outgoing Internet connection is sufficient. This connection allows linking to the virtual network server in the cloud, which is responsible for routing the audio in a bidirectional manner, ensuring seamless communication between all points of the system, regardless of their physical location.
The AEQ XPEAK family of intercom systems offers a wide variety of devices tailored to different operational needs. Options include rack-mountable user panels, desktop units, wireless and hardwired handsets, as well as PC software licenses. In addition, complete interface units are available for integration with third-party solutions, making the system a versatile and scalable tool for modern production environments.
With this technological renewal, TV9 and Radio 2AP reinforce their commitment to innovation and quality in communication, betting on tools that optimize their production processes and expand their operational capacity. The incorporation of the AEQ XPEAK system not only improves internal and remote coordination, but also positions Samoa’s public broadcaster at the forefront of professional intercommunication solutions at the regional level.
