TCS expands its intercom infrastructure with AEQ CONEXIA

Telecorporación Salvadoreña is the leading private media conglomerate in El Salvador, operating several radio and television channels.

Currently, TCS has an AEQ Conexia intercom system that serves its multiple studios. The versatility of Conexia has allowed it to implement different audio formats in its internal communications, integrating analog, digital, IP, telephone links, and Dante technology into a single infrastructure.

With the aim of making the most of the Dante protocol—which enables communication and control over long distances—in this third stage, TCS is expanding its intercom system to 64 communication channels, incorporating a new forum called La Gran Vía, located 2 kilometers from the headquarters.

In this phase, the new line of TP9000 panels is being implemented, integrating Dante connectivity for both audio and control, reinforcing the existing infrastructure and ensuring efficient communication between both locations.

The heart of the CONEXIA intercom system is the AEQ XCORE matrix, with the capacity to interconnect up to 1,000 different devices. The configuration deployed incorporates total operational redundancy in this central matrix, including dual power supply, redundant DSP platform in N+a format, and multiple controllers, with the aim of guaranteeing maximum availability, which is essential in a critical system such as intercom.

The AEQ CONEXIA platform is positioned as a global solution capable of managing all communications and audio contributions in an installation. Its architecture is based on a broadcast matrix, which allows for the integration of the largest number of audio formats currently used in the market in a completely modular way, selecting resources according to the specific needs of each system at any given time.

This modularity not only provides flexibility, but also allows for full system redundancy, with automatic backup on controllers, audio processing cards, crosspoints, and even on the I/O cards themselves, whether multichannel or discrete.

The internal TDM bus scales the matrix up to a size of 1,024 x 1,024 ports. All this makes AEQ CONEXIA a broadcast-quality audio system—48 kHz and 24 bits—that brings flexibility and robustness to any project designed to manage both audio and intercom systems.

The latest phase of the system’s expansion has allowed AEQ CONEXIA to integrate different equipment and technologies that now operate together within the platform. These include the BS3000 family, TP800 panels, XVirtual mobile device software, and Xplorer wireless beltpacks based on 5G technology.

In the medium term, a further expansion is planned with the addition of more panels and wireless beltpacks, with the aim of continuing to meet the company’s operational needs.

AEQ is grateful for the support of this project by the staff of TCS El Salvador, led by Charlie Renderos (CEO), Zadi Barahona (Director of Technology and Operations), Edgardo Montenegro (Engineering Manager), and Israel Castillo (PCR Coordinator), in collaboration with AEQ’s technical services, coordinated by César Reyna as manager of the AEQ Mexico office.
