During the 2025 NBA Finals, held in Oklahoma, ESPN Brazil deployed the AEQ Olympia 3 system, integrated by LineUP, to manage the audio for narrators and commentators at one of the sporting events with the largest global audience.
The coverage is part of a technical modernization process that the network has been developing in recent years. ESPN had already worked with AEQ solutions at major international sporting events, such as the one held in Rio in 2016, and the experience gained in that context served as the basis for standardizing its operations with the Olympia 3 system.
Designed for major sporting events, AEQ Olympia 3 is a state-of-the-art commentary system with native integration into IP environments, intercom, and software control.
The project involved replacing the commentator panels used at the São Paulo headquarters, both in external booths and for live broadcasts. In total, eight units of the system were implemented with the aim of adapting the local infrastructure to the technical standards required by large-scale international productions.
The technical integration carried out by LineUP optimized audio monitoring and mixing, as well as enabling precise adjustments to input and output levels. In addition, communication stability between narrators, commentators, and technical management was reinforced, a crucial aspect in coverage that operates with multiple production points and real-time decisions.
In Oklahoma, the system was installed directly in the stadium’s commentary area, operating on IP infrastructure and compatible with standards such as Dante and AES67. Its performance ensured operational stability and live audio quality in an environment that demands mobility, synchronization, and immediate responsiveness.
Lilian Souza, Sales Manager at LineUp, comments: “Olympia 3 has proven to be an extremely reliable system for both on-site broadcasts and off-site booth projects and remote commentators. At LineUP, we are very proud to serve customers such as ESPN in São Paulo on projects of this caliber and to have partners such as AEQ, who offer high-quality solutions for critical operations.”
At the same time, Olympia 3 was also integrated into ESPN’s sound booths in São Paulo. Thanks to its IP architecture, it was possible to set up a distributed production, allowing remote teams to maintain the same level of technical control and sound quality as in an on-site operation, even with professionals working from different locations.
In a context where major sports coverage demands ever greater flexibility, reliability, and distributed production capacity, ESPN Brazil’s experience at the 2025 NBA Finals reflects the consolidation of IP streams as the operational standard in highly technical international broadcasts.
Information regarding the project and its technical development was initially published by LineUP on its website, where details were provided on the implementation of the system in the context of the 2025 NBA Finals.
