Egerton Radio is the radio station located on the Nakuru campus of Egerton University in Kenya. It combines the university’s community radio station with training facilities specifically designed for students of journalism and audiovisual communication, all under one roof.
Since the recent upgrade, AEQ’s digital technology has taken center stage, with an ultra-compact AEQ CAPITOL IP mixer serving as the heart of the entire system—all signals produced there pass through it. Given the station’s staff of experienced operators, the decision was made to install AEQ technology due to its reliability, superior digital audio quality, and ease of use.
AEQ CAPITOL IP is an 8-channel fixed-configuration digital audio mixing console. In the CAPITOL IP, IP connectivity is implemented via a single module with 16 input and 16 output channels, integrated into its “core.” One of the main features of the AEQ CAPITOL IP is its extensive input capacity: 4 mic/line inputs, 12 analog inputs, 4 AES/EBU (AES3) stereo digital inputs, 2 USB stereo digital inputs, 2 optional telephone lines, and optional digital multichannel audio links; 16 AoIP channels over two Ethernet connectors or 64 MADI channels via fiber optic input.
The AEQ CAPITOL console is very popular at local stations around the world, as it offers digital technology with IP capabilities, supporting the latest features demanded by the market, yet with very simple and exceptionally robust operation, making it the ideal unit for these public service and educational studios.
You can tune in to Egerton Radio on 101.7 FM or stream it from the university’s website. The station offers a wide variety of programming that covers all the educational activities included in the institution’s academic curriculum, alongside the typical music, news, and current events content that is so popular among the campus’s young student body.
