Radio Santa María de Toledo renews its broadcasting infrastructure with AEQ

Radio Santa María de Toledo, a radio station founded in 1993 to promote the spread of the gospel and the life of the Church, has established itself over three decades as a local benchmark thanks to programming that combines religious content, local news, and cultural and musical programs. After more than thirty years broadcasting from its previous headquarters, the station is now embarking on a new phase marked by a move to renovated facilities and the upgrading of some of its technical equipment.

In this technological upgrade, Radio Santa María has entrusted AEQ with deploying a Dante-based audio over IP network, managed from a NetBox 32 MX matrix, which allows for scalable and flexible multi-channel routing. Alongside this infrastructure, three Forum IP consoles have been integrated, ideal for ON-AIR control thanks to their modular design, parametric equalizers, filters, dynamics, and up to 32 mix buses for program, auxiliary, or clean feeds. In addition, a Capitol IP has been installed, an ultra-compact console with 100 mm faders and AoIP connectivity for up to 32 channels, designed for studios with limited space without sacrificing functional capacity; and a Systel IP 16, which offers an IP calling and conferencing system with 16 simultaneous VoIP lines, integration with Dante/AES-67, and scalability to connect multiple studios. The previously installed audio codecs also remain in use, ensuring continuity of high-quality communications thanks to their IP protocol compatibility, low latency, and remote control.

As detailed by its technical director, Francisco Requena, “After 32 years broadcasting from the same location, Radio Santa María de Toledo and Canal Diocesano de TV have moved their facilities to a new headquarters, updating and renovating equipment for both radio and TV. Thanks to the technical and human support of AEQ, since radio broadcasts began in 1993, a DANTE network has been installed that allows radio and television to be interconnected with the same audio signal, facilitating all audio traffic between different radio and TV studios. All of this is managed from the NETBOX 32 MX matrix, in addition to installing two FORUM IP mixers for radio continuity and production with 18 and 12 faders respectively, another FORUM IP mixer for TV production control, and a CAPITOL IP mixer in the central TV continuity control room. The installation is completed by a Systel IP 16 to manage telephony together with the Venus-3, Alio, and Mercury IP codecs that were already in place. Thanks to all this, Radio Santa María de Toledo and Canal Diocesano de TV are facing a new and exciting stage with significant technical improvements, with the support of the Archbishopric of Toledo, the professionals who make up the staff, and the companies that provide service and technical support.”

The new infrastructure allows both media outlets to work more efficiently, unify audio flows between radio and television, and expand their operational capabilities to handle more demanding productions. Project coordination and equipment installation were carried out by Bernardo Saiz, AEQ sales representative, whose technical oversight allowed the solution to be tailored to the station’s specific needs and ensured a smooth transition to the new facilities.

With this technological upgrade, Radio Santa María de Toledo reinforces its commitment to broadcast quality and audience service, consolidating its position as a local benchmark for information, culture, and religious content. The station is excited to embark on this new phase, backed by the Archbishopric of Toledo, its professional team, and the technical partners who have made this renovation possible.
